Take Advantage of Recent Tax Law Changes to Support MAF

Your partnership brings Christ's love to isolated people around the world.

Through all the unexpected challenges we have faced lately, MAF's faithful supporters have stood by this ministry to generously use their resources to reach isolated people around the world with the love of Jesus. In response to the hardships many people across the country are facing today, the government has taken steps to make it easier to give to charities like MAF.

Recent tax law changes make it especially important to know what deductions and strategies are available for you. No one, including the IRS, wants you to pay taxes that you don't have to pay.

FIND YOUR CHARITABLE OPPORTUNITY

Below are several charitable giving opportunities for you to consider in light of this year's events and recently passed tax law changes.

REPLACE THE STRETCH OF YOUR IRA
With the SECURE Act, children who inherit IRAs are now required to take all distributions within 10 years, potentially creating a significant tax burden. If this affects your plans, click here for details on one possible solution for you. Keep in mind that an IRA is one of the best gifts you can give to a charity to save on taxes and maximize your impact!
IRA ROLLOVER
Before the SECURE Act, taxpayers aged 70 or older had to take a required minimum distribution (RMD) from their IRA. Now the age is 72. You can direct some or all of your RMDs to charity and not pay taxes on the distribution. Click here for details.
CHARITABLE DEDUCTION FOR ITEMIZERS
Tax itemizers can deduct charitable contributions made in 2020 up to 100% of their adjusted gross income for cash gifts (this is up from a previous deduction cap of 60% of adjusted gross income).
CHARITABLE CONTRIBUION
Nothing beats the feeling of giving to charity and seeing good things happen. Consider making the year end special for the causes that are important

NEW STANDARD DEDUCTION

This year, the standard deduction is $12,400 for single/$24,800 for married filing jointly. One way to take advantage of the higher standard deduction is to bunch your donations by giving more to charity every other year. This allows you to itemize the year that you make a larger donation and use the standard deduction the following year.

CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY
A gift annuity gives you fixed, reliable payments that last your entire life and that are NOT subject to the performance of the market. You also receive an income tax deduction and possible capital gains benefits. Click here for details.

If you plan to give any cash to charity, consider transferring stock instead and you will save capital gains taxes.
